Dear Girl Talk Gals,
I began making dream boards or visualization boards way back before they had a name, or at least back before
I knew what to call them. I was about ten years old the first time I recall cutting and pasting items out of a magazine
and putting them on a poster board and hanging that up in my bedroom. Long before I knew what the words affirmation
or visualization meant I was seeking to tap into my intuition and the power to create. When I was in my early 20’s I
had a bulletin board on which I would hang up pictures, inspiring quotes, and images of things I hoped to one day
have. I saw the power in this over and over again.
Many years later as I toured the country doing Dream Big workshops I would often use journaling and
collaging as a way for the women in my groups to connect with their dreams. They would play with this exercise
and have so much fun they often wouldn’t want to stop! As their collages started to unfold and they rediscovered their
passions the experience was really powerful.
It was during these workshops I got the bright idea that it would be great to have a journal specifically
designed for this. I wanted a journal with pockets to hold all of the images, photos, words and treasures one
comes across but may not want to glue in right at that moment. I wanted a size that was portable so we could
take our dreams with us wherever we went. And most importantly it needed to lay flat so it was easy to work with
once the creative juices really started flowing! Alas, that is how this wonderful
Permission to Dream Journal was born.
The deeper I got into writing the Permission to Dream Journal the more I realized I needed to create this as
much for myself as for others. I was having fun with this! And fun was something that was lacking in my life. After
over a dozen years of pouring heart and soul into supporting women artists through my Femail Creations catalog and
then focusing so much passion into launching a new company, Barefoot Parties, to empower women who want to have
their own home based businesses, I was more depleted than I was even aware. And the truth is you can’t pour from
an empty cup. It was time to reconnect with my playful side, carve out space for creativity, nurture my intuition and
refuel my passions.
Believing in the impossible and affirming our intentions is an ongoing process. It takes work and it takes
playthat’s right, play! It can be a matter of having fun and dreaming bigger dreams for our selves and being
open to receiving.
I believe that we each have within us the power to manifest anything we deeply desire. Whether that is a new
home, our dream vacation, our ultimate career, a new relationship, or a life of abundance.
It all starts with giving your self Permission to Dream...and in that spirit I am having the party to end all parties
to celebrate my new journal. I am collaborating with Marcia Wieder, (you may have seen her on OPRAH!), and Karen
Drucker, and we are having
The Worlds Largest Dreams-Come-True Party in San Francisco in February. And I want YOU
to be there!
