The 10-minute Appetizer Everyone Loves
Quick! Friends are on their way over for a glass of wine and you need something for them to nibble while they sip. What can you throw together in 10 minutes or less? A charcuterie board.
Originating in France—and popular throughout Europe—these types of boards are being a stateside staple. And, it’s easy to see why. Not only do they require little time and effort, they are delicious and can be made with whatever quick-bite foods you have on hand. Below are several suggestions for “ingredients” along with a few tips on arranging the grouping. Set out small plates, forks, and wine glasses (of course) and prepare for a fun night with friends!
INGREDIENTS
The following are suggestions; use your favorite cheeses, cured meats, jams, fruit, and nuts for a combination that pleases your palate.
- salami
- pepperoni
- any other cured meats
- cheeses (we love a mix of gouda, brie, and Havarti for a variety of flavors)
- stuffed olives
- regular olives, black and green
- grapes
- berries
- any other fruit (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- stuffed peppers
- nuts
- crackers
- baguette slices
- spread or jam (for example a fig jam or a spicy mustard)
PREPARATION
Arrange the ingredients you choose to use on a large cutting board. Use ramekins or small bowls to contain olives and nuts. Serve cold.
